At the southern edge of the Occitanie region of France are the Pyrénées mountains, where the rolling hills and gentle rural landscapes of this region become remote wilderness and rocky peaks reaching 10,000 feet in altitude. This rugged and beautiful mountain range offers incredible camping and hiking.

The following photographs were taken during an early spring hike from Mérens-les-Vals to l’étang de Comte, an alpine lake surrounded by snowcapped peaks.
