Shasta-Trinity
There are few places in northern California that one can go and still be out of range of Mount Shasta's watchful gaze. As the 2nd highest of the Cascade volcanoes, with a dominating presence at 14,179', it towers thousands of feet above any other mountain of significance in its field of view. Its prominence, size, and appearance all but demand one to stop and admire it. It is a landmark visible from a hundred miles or more in all directions. I've seen no prettier mountain in California and perhaps the United States.
